The Concho Valley Partnership (then Concho Valley Tech Prep Consortium) was created in 1991 to facilitate students' transfer from secondary to postsecondary education. The Tech Prep Program was created to ensure that students completed a nonduplicative sequence of courses in high school and college that lead to a certificate or degree. The Partnership has grown and changed with the times and now provides a variety of programs which enhance the education and career development opportunities for students in the Concho Valley.
From the beginning, the Concho Valley Partnership has served 22 school districts across the Concho Valley region. These districts include Ballinger ISD, Brady ISD, Bronte ISD, Christoval ISD, Crockett County CISD, Eden CISD, Grape Creek ISD, Irion County ISD, Junction ISD, Lohn ISD, Mason ISD, Menard ISD, Miles ISD, Paint Rock ISD, Reagan County ISD, Robert Lee ISD, Rochelle ISD, San Angelo ISD, Schleicher County ISD, Sonora ISD, Sterling City ISD, Veribest ISD, Wall ISD, and Water Valley ISD. In addition, when requested and resources are available, the Partnership has provided assistance to additional districts seeking its services including Ballinger ISD and Miles ISD.
Over the past 20 years, the Partnership has managed many grant opportunities for the schools in the Concho Valley. These grants have served to provide assistance with postsecondary education for high school students, connect employers with schools and vice versa, encourage students to pursue careers in Math/Science occupations, encourage students to read, and increase students' employment skills. The Partnership has been selected as a model program for Tech Prep by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board; for School-To-Work by both the Department of Education and Texas Workforce Commission; and for the College Access Challenge Grant: Community Partnerships Program by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. A historical review of these grants is provided on the next page:
